Almonaster to Midtown 230 kV line upgrade
Description: This project replaced portions of the existing 230 kilovolt transmission line with a higher rated conductor. The higher rated facility provides needed additional transmission capacity.
Cost: Approximately $2 million.
Status: This project is now complete.
Benefits: The project will enhance reliability, increase transmission capacity and help ensure the availability of affordable power in the New Orleans area.
Gulf Outlet 115 kV Capacitor Bank
Description: This project installed a 115 kV capacitor bank at the existing Gulf Outlet 115 kV substation. This capacitor bank is needed to maintain required voltage levels and reliably serve the load on the east side of New Orleans.
Cost: Approximately $3 million.
Status: This project is now complete.
Benefits: The project will aid in maintaining voltage levels and reliably serving the customers in New Orleans.
Avenue C to Paris Tap 115 kV line reconductor
Description: This project will install a new higher rated conductor between the Avenue C 115 kV substation and the Paris Tap point. The higher rated facility provides needed additional transmission capacity to efficiently and reliably serve the customers in New Orleans.
Cost: Approximately $2 million.
Status: Expected to be in service by summer 2022
Benefits: The project will enhance reliability, increase transmission capacity and help ensure efficient and reliable service to the customers in the New Orleans area.
