Southwest region

  • Lake Charles Power Station


    • 994 MW natural gas-fired combined cycle unit.
      Location: Westlake, La.
      Cost: $872 million.
      Completed: March 2020.
      Projected to save customers between $1.2 billion to $2 billion.

  • Lake Charles transmission project

    • Construction of two new substations, expansion of a third, and the addition of about 25 total miles of high-voltage, storm-hardened transmission lines to move power more reliably and efficiently in the fast-growing region.
      Location: Calcasieu Parish.
      Cost: $187 million.
      Completed: 2018.

  • Mud Lake to Big Lake transmission project


    • 15 miles of transmission lines upgraded along with construction of a new substation and improvements to three existing substations.
      Location: Calcasieu Parish
      Completed: August 2023

  • Southwest Louisiana infrastructure upgrade

    • A $100 million upgrade to the electric transmission infrastructure of Jefferson Davis Parish to enhance reliability and help ensure the availability of affordable power to help grow the region’s economy.
      Location: Jefferson Davis Parish.
