Lake Charles Transmission Project

Description: This project, located in the Lake Charles area of southwest Louisiana, involves the construction of a new 500 kV switching station east of the Nelson generating station, construction of approximately 10 miles of new 500 kV line from the new switching station south to a new 500 kV bulk substation, installation of a new 500-230 kV, 1200 MVA autotransformer at the bulk substation and then the construction of approximately 4 miles of new 230 kV transmission line from the bulk substation to the existing Carlyss 230 kV substation. The project also includes the construction of approximately 12 miles of new 230 kV transmission line between the Carlyss and Graywood substations.

Cost: Approximately $181 million.

Status: The project is expected be placed in service by the fall of 2018.

Benefits: This project addresses future load growth and reliability needs in southwest Louisiana.

Terrebonne to Bayou Vista: Construct New 230 kV Line

Description: This project, located in southeast Louisiana, involves the construction of a new 35 mile long 230 kV transmission line.  Entergy Louisiana will add breakers and construct approximately 23 miles from Terrebonne to a point near Amelia, LA where construction of the remaining 12 miles into Bayou Vista will be completed by Cleco.

Cost: Approximately $77 million (Entergy's portion).

Status: The project is expected to be placed in service by the spring of 2019.

Benefits: This joint project addresses future load growth and reliability needs in southeast Louisiana for both the Entergy and Cleco transmission systems.

SELA Project Phase 2 and Phase 3

Description: The SELA Project Phase 2 and Phase 3, located in southeast Louisiana, involves the construction of a new 230 kV transmission line connecting Peters Road 230 kV substation, Oakville 230 kV distribution substation, and Alliance substation, which is located in lower Plaquemines Parish. The project also includes the installation of a 230-115 kV autotransformer at Alliance.

Cost: Approximately $85 million.

Status: Phase 2 was completed and placed in service in September 2012. Phase 3 of the project is currently under construction and is expected to be completed in 2018.

Benefits: This project addresses future load growth and reliability needs in southeast Louisiana.

Fancy Point Substation: Add Second 500-230 kV Autotransformer

Description: This project, located in southeast Louisiana, involves the addition of a second 1,500 MVA, 500-230 kV autotransformer and reworking the 500 kV gas bus.

Cost: Approximately $63 million.

Status: The project is expected be placed in service in the spring of 2019.

Benefits: This project addresses future load growth and reliability needs in southeast Louisiana. 

Coly Substation: Add Second 500-230 kV, 1,200 MVA autotransformer

Description: This project, located in the Baton Rouge area of Louisiana, involves the addition of a second 500-230 kV, 1200 MVA autotransformer at the Coly substation.

Cost: Approximately $25 million.

Benefits: This project was identified in the MISO MTEP14 economic study process and selected by Entergy as a potential economic project.

Waterford to Vacherie 230 kV Line Upgrade

Description: This project, located in southeast Louisiana, involves the upgrade of the Waterford to Vacherie 230 kV line to a higher rating.

Cost: Approximately $25 million.

Status: The project is expected be placed in service by the summer of 2019.

Richardson to Iberville: Construct new 230 kV line

Description: This project, located in the Baton Rouge area of Louisiana, involves the construction of a new 230 kV transmission line between a new Richardson and existing Iberville substations. The Richardson substation is located Morrisonville, Louisiana.

Cost: Approximately $48 million.

 
Benefits: This project was identified in the MISO MTEP14 economic study process and selected by Entergy as a potential economic project.

Cadeville 115 kV Substation

Description: This project located in north central Louisiana involves the construction of an approximately 15 mile long 230 kV transmission line (initially operated at 115 kV) from  Rilla to interconnect a new distribution substation at Cadeville.

Cost: Approximately $34 million.

Status: The project is expected to be placed in service by the summer of 2019.

 
Benefits: This project addresses future load growth and reliability needs in northern Louisiana. 

Lake Providence 115 kV Substation

Description: This project located in northeast Louisiana involves the construction of an approximately 15 mile long 115 kV transmission line from Oak Grove to interconnect a new distribution substation at Lake Providence.

Cost: Approximately $45 million.

Status: The project is expected to be placed in service by the summer of 2021.

 
Benefits: This project addresses future load growth and reliability needs in northern Louisiana. 

Nine Mile to Barataria 115 kV

Description: This project in Entergy Louisiana is to rebuild the existing 15 mile 115 kV line from Nine Mile to Barataria substations insulated at 230 kV for operations at higher voltage in the future.

Cost: Approximately $46 million.

Status: The project is expected be placed in service by the summer of 2019.

 
Benefits: This project addresses future load growth and reliability needs in southeast Louisiana.

West Monroe Area 230 kV Reliability Improvement Plan

Description: This project, located in the northern portion of Louisiana, involves the following:

  •  Expansion of the existing Perryville EHV station to accommodate a new 500-230 kV autotransformer
  • Construction of approximately 3 miles of double circuit 230 kV line to create a new Perryville to Selman Field 230 kV path.
  • Conversion of the existing Selman Field to Rilla 115 kV line to 230 kV operation.
  • Construction of approximately 8 miles of 230 kV line to create a new Perryville to Dunn 230 kV path.

Cost: Approximately $82 million.

Status: The project is expected to be placed in service prior to the summer of 2021.

Benefits: This project addresses future load growth and reliability needs in north Louisiana.


Dunn to Winnsboro:  Construct New 230 kV Line

Description: This project, located in the northern portion of Louisiana, involves the construction of an approximately 25 mile 230 kV transmission line from the existing Dunn substation to the existing Winnsboro substation.  The new line will initially be operated to 115 kV.

Cost: Approximately $41 million.

Status: The project is expected to be placed in service prior to the summer of 2020.

Benefits: This project addresses future load growth and reliability needs in north Louisiana. 


Ellem 138 kV:  New Substation

Description: This project, located in an industrial area south of Baton Rouge, is to construct a new 138 kV station near the current Geismar 138 kV station and cut three nearby 138 kV transmission lines in and out of the new station.

Cost: Approximately $26 million.

Status: The project is expected be placed in service by the summer of 2020.

Benefits: This project addresses future load growth and reliability needs in south Louisiana. 


Southwest Lousiana 69 kV Improvement Project

Description: This project, located in southwestern Louisiana, involves constructing a new Henning 138-69 kV station and install two 138-69 kV autotransformers.  Also part of this project is the rebuild, upgrade, and reconfiguration of multiple 69 kV facilities between Lake Charles and Jennings.

Cost: Approximately $109 million.

Status: The project is expected be placed in service by the Winter of 2019.

Benefits: This project addresses future load growth and reliability needs in south Louisiana. 


Mud Lake to Big Lake 230 kV Project

Description: This project, located south of Lake Charles in southwestern Louisiana, is to construct a new ten mile 230 kV line from Mud Lake 230 kV to Big Lake 230 kV.

Cost: Approximately $24 million.

Status: The project is expected be placed in service by the Winter of 2022.

Benefits: This project addresses future load growth and reliability needs in south Louisiana. 


North Acadiana Load Pocket Project:  Cankton 230-138 kV, New Substation & Autotransformer

Description: This project, located in south Louisiana north of Lafayette, includes building a new Cankton 230-138 kV station near the point where an existing 230 kV and 138 kV line cross.  A new 230-138 kV autotransformer and distribution transformer will be installed at the new station.  An additional 230-138 kV autotransformer will be installed at the existing Cecelia 138 kV station and a new ~20 mile 230 kV line will be constructed between Cankton 230 kV and Cecelia 230 kV.  There are also upgrades on the .35 mile long line between Bloomfield and Vatican 138 kV stations as part of this project.

Cost: Approximately $82 million.

Status: The project is expected be placed in service by the Winter of 2021.

Benefits: This project addresses future load growth and reliability needs in south Louisiana. 


Jefferson Parish Area Reliability Plan Phase 1:

Description: This project, located in south Louisiana, involves the following:

  • Construct a new 230 kV station called Churchill south of the Ninemile 230 kV station
  • Cut the Waterford to Ninemile 230 kV line and the Ninemile to Estell 230 kV lines into the Churhill 230 kV staion.
  • Convert the Ninemile to Barataria 115 kV to 230 kV operation from Churchill to Barataria.
  • Construct a 230 kV Barataria station and install a 230-115 kV Autotransformer
  • Convert the Barataria to Alliance 115 kV to 230 kV operation.
  • Expand the 230 kV at Alliance to accommodate the Barataria to Alliance 230 kV line and install a second 230-115 kV Autotransformer.
  • Utilize the unused portion of the Ninemile to Barataria 115 kV line to route a second 115 kV circuit into Westwego from Ninemile.

Cost: Approximately $108 million.

Status: The project is expected be placed in service by the Summer of 2020.

Benefits: This project addresses future load growth and reliability needs in south Louisiana. 


Southeast Louisiana Project:  Waterford to Churchill 230 kV

Description: This project, located in South Louisiana, involves building a new thirty mile 230 kV line between the Waterford and Churchill 230 kV stations.  This line will be the second circuit between Waterford and Churchill.

Cost: Approximately $94 million.

Status: The project is expected be placed in service by the Summer of 2022.

Benefits: This project was identified as part of the MISO MTEP economic process.


Robert 230 kV Substation

Description: This project located north of Lake Pontchartrain in south Louisiana involves the construction of approximately 25 miles of 230 kV transmission line from Fairview 230 kV station to interconnect a new distribution substation at Robert.

Cost: Approximately $75 million.

Status: The project is expected to be placed in service by the summer of 2019.

Benefits: This project addresses future load growth and reliability needs in south Louisiana. 


Culicchia 230 kV Substation

Description: This project located in south Louisiana involves the construction of a new 230 kV distribution station to replace the Arabi 230 kV station.

Cost: Approximately $37 million.

Status: The project is expected to be placed in service by the summer of 2019.

Benefits: This project addresses future load growth and reliability needs in south Louisiana.
